Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Field Technician II to support engineering, materials testing, and inspection projects. As a Field Technician II, you will perform advanced field and on‑site inspections, and ensure construction, infrastructure, and environmental projects meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.

This role requires strong problem‑solving skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced field environment. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, technically proficient, and committed to maintaining a strong culture of safety. You will enjoy working outdoors in dynamic environments, collaborating with a team to solve real‑time challenges, and ensuring safety and quality compliance on every project. The position offers opportunities to mentor junior technicians, sharing best practices to enhance team performance and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Perform field testing on soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other construction materials, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Ensure that project testing requirements are met and compliant with company policies or procedures.
  • Collect, label, and transport material samples to laboratories following proper procedures to maintain sample integrity.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot testing equipment according to manufacturer and company guidelines.
  • Complete detailed reports, logs, and documentation of test results, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, field supervisors, contractors, and project managers, providing real‑time updates on job status, site conditions, and issues encountered.
  • Mentor and support junior field technicians, providing guidance on field procedures, testing methods, and safety best practices.
  • Follow OSHA, company, and client safety protocols, ensuring strict adherence to personal protective equipment usage, hazard awareness, and field safety guidelines.
  • Adapt to changing project requirements and schedules, including early morning, weekend, or overnight work as needed.
  • Operate and maintain assigned company vehicle, including routine maintenance and proper upkeep.
  • Travel to job sites within the designated region, which may require overnight stays.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support company initiatives and project success.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or coursework in construction, engineering, geology, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of field‑based experience in materials testing, construction inspection, geotechnical fieldwork, or a related industry.
  • Industry certifications such as ACI Level 1 Concrete Testing preferred or ability to obtain within a specified time period.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; ability to safely operate company vehicles.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to OSHA regulations, industry best practices, and company safety policies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and field data collection software or similar tools.
  • Mathematical skills sufficient to perform calculations using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints, procedures, manuals, technical documents, and reports related to drilling, safety, and project requirements.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to complete tasks efficiently and accurately.
