Role & responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Civil Designer with strong expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D to support infrastructure and land development projects. The role involves delivering high-quality design models and drawings in collaboration with an international team, primarily on New Zealand-based projects.
Key Responsibilities- Develop detailed civil engineering designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Create and manage:
- Alignments, long sections, and cross sections
- Corridors and assemblies
- Surfaces and grading models
- Stormwater and wastewater pipe networks
- Prepare roading, subdivision, and land development drawings
- Undertake earthworks modelling and quantity take-offs
- Assist with pavement design
, including layer configuration, subgrade considerations, and design inputs - Support flood modelling and stormwater assessments using tools such as TUFLOW (where applicable)
- Apply and maintain data shortcuts, templates, and CAD standards
- Coordinate with engineers and multidisciplinary teams (planners, surveyors, architects)
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and guidelines
- Assist with updating drawings based on design reviews and client feedback
- 38+ years of experience in civil design (Intermediate/Senior level)
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong understanding of:
- Road design and geometry
- Stormwater and wastewater design
- Earthworks and grading
- Experience with:
- Data shortcuts and project workflows
- Civil 3D templates and CAD standards
- Quantity take-offs and basic design calculations
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, reports, and survey data
- Strong attention to detail and quality assurance
- Experience in subdivision design
, including:- Roading layouts and long sections
- Stormwater and wastewater design
- Utility coordination and servicing strategy
- Experience or exposure to TUFLOW flood modelling (1D/2D modelling, flood mapping, or stormwater assessments)
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new standards and workflows
