Gas Design Project Manager (Ft Lauderdale)
State and City:
Florida – Ft. Lauderdale
Shift: 8 Hr. X 5 Days
What You Need To Succeed- A minimum of an Associate Degree in a related field from an accredited college/university is required. Related fields include Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Applied Sciences, or Business Administration.
- Driver License with a safe driving record.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of work experience in progressively more complex technical assignments, directly related to the Duties and Responsibilities of this position and the Knowledge, Skills and Ability section.
- Demonstrated and sustained above expected performance as a GDT II or equivalent role with another utility with the potential for greater responsibility.
- Demonstrated strong project leadership, training and communication skills and the ability to lead projects of increasing complexity and diversity.
- Knowledge of natural gas quality issues and industry practices.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Works independently on complex and varied assignments/projects utilizing analytical skills, judgment and ingenuity. Responsible for the overall project management associated with the design and installation of natural gas facilities and other infrastructure, including strategic planning and modeling of the natural gas transmission and distribution network. May supervise Gas Design Technician I and II.
- Meet with internal and external customers to assess needs and feasibility, determine schedules, and coordinate construction phases. Represent customers in update meetings with PGS departments, municipalities, FDOT, and others.
- Coordinate construction activities among departments within PGS and manage communications regarding schedule changes and updates.
- Create and/or process Work Orders (WO) and Construction requests in Power Plant and/or Work Management Systems.
- Perform feasibility and load analyses to determine efficient solutions; model conditions in software (Synergee/Stoner) to design optimal system solutions compliant with standards and regulatory requirements.
- Use GIS and CAD software to draw proposed and existing facilities; maintain and optimize GIS in accordance with company standards and guidelines.
- Produce and coordinate construction plans, easement agreements, right-of-way permits, project charters, and Gantt charts for Distribution Operations, Real Estate and Contractors. Verify locations and installations and determine MOT plans as needed.
- Produce construction cost estimates and manage financial aspects including MACC, CIAC, and deposits as applicable.
- Support Sarbanes-Oxley compliance by reviewing financial data in Power Plant and assisting in annual capital and O&M budgets.
- Monitor contracts for engineering, construction, mapping, and other activities; manage bid packages, requisitions, invoices, and as-built data.
- Provide engineering and project management for large master-planned developments and commercial projects (e.g., shopping malls, schools, hospitals).
- Investigate, respond to, and document Public Service Commission inquiries.
- Provide project leadership, manage multiple projects, and resolve issues related to project management.
- Lead departmental development efforts, participate in complex technical studies, and communicate results to management for change implementation.
- Represent PGS before regulatory bodies as needed.
- Perform system load analysis and recommend efficient solutions to maintain/expand the transmission and distribution network in compliance with codes and guidelines.
- Act as team lead when required and mentor less experienced GDT I/II/III; train other departments on processes and procedures.
