Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a Project Geologist for our Fort Lauderdale, FL office. The role focuses on managing geological studies, interpreting data, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and national regulations. The Project Geologist will contribute to large, complex engineering projects across a range of private and public sectors.
Responsibilities- Apply advanced scientific principles and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to complex problems.
- Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Determine technical objectives of assignments and exercise latitude in technical decisions.
- Conduct research and investigations as required.
- Plan and organize project studies.
- Resolve conflicting technical information and adapt standard procedures when necessary.
- Develop unique solutions for complex assignments.
- Oversee the work of less experienced scientists.
- Minimum: BA/BS in Geology or related field + 6 years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License and must pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records Review.
- United States citizenship is a requirement.
- Master’s Degree in Geology or related field.
- Experience with Florida Department of Transportation projects.
- Professional Geologist (PG) licensure, certifications, or accreditations.
- 7+ years leading site investigations, including soil/groundwater/vapor sampling and borehole installation with various drilling techniques.
- Understanding of remediation consulting, environmental investigations, and site remediation.
- Project management experience.
- Proficiency in GIS software.
- Strong background in technical writing for remedial investigation reports and corrective action studies.
- Experience with vapor mitigation, AS/SVE, pump-and-treat, chemical injections, soil blending, thermal remediation, bio‑sparge, and related technologies.
- Experience with groundwater modeling and numeric computing programs.
- Current OSHA 30‑Hr Construction Training.
- Experience with PFAS investigations.
- Familiarity with State and Federal Environmental Regulations.

$85,000 – $85,000 per year
