Job SummaryThe Project Engineer provides comprehensive support to our Project Management team, Operations Management, and field personnel. This person is responsible for the coordination, planning, scheduling, execution and completion of all assigned retrofit, service, new construction and design-build projects. They will coordinate materials, equipment, subcontractors, permits and other items necessary for a successful project, ensuring that specifications are being followed and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget.
This role also handles billing, collections, forecasting, safety compliance, project coordination, data management, client communication, and administrative functions that ensure smooth project execution. Strong organizational and communication skills and attention to detail are essential in a dynamic environment. - Pre-project coordination
- Partner with Project Management team, Operations Management, and field personnel to execute project goals, including project overviews, specification requirements, contract details and scheduling
- Assist with project budgeting and forecasting
- Assist with project billing and collections
- Collaborate with Sales and Operations for technical guidance
- Communicate project-related information to customers and vendors regularly
- Document contractual and technical requirements, assist in the development and implementation of project plans, and facilitate efficient execution of work scope
- Collect, compile, scan, and analyze project and operations documents; maintain project folders
- Assist with project reporting as needed
- Attend regular work-in-progress meetings
- Assist with coordination of OCIP/CCIP requirements
- Manage multiple projects while meeting or exceeding stated deadlines and bid estimates
- Pre-plan and coordinate material and equipment purchases, deliveries and required inspections
- Work cross-functionally with other departments including purchasing, field labor, accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Understand contracts, prepare change orders and proposals for customers
- Visit job sites to monitor progress and resolve problems
- Meet with inspectors at job sites for field inspections
- Protect the company by identifying and avoiding risk
- Document job progress, changes, delays, submittals, RFIs, etc.
- Track the financial position of the project, including billings, change orders and managing costs
- Promote a safety-first culture
- Associate’s degree in a related field, or field experience in the HVAC business preferred
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, kneel, and move around construction sites for extended periods
- Ability to climb ladders, scaffoldings, and stairs as needed
- Capable of working in various environmental conditions such as heat, dust, noise, etc. typical of a construction site
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings
- Ability to wear PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, boots, etc.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Excel or equivalent
- Excellent attention to detail
- Self-motivated with excellent time management skills
- Effective communication with all levels of the project
- Support the Project team and provide detailed information to ensure projects are executed timely, accurately and on budget
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable transportation
