This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities.

IMEG is hiring a Planning Intern in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to assist the planning team with research, data collection, and community engagement efforts that support planning initiatives. Over 10-12 weeks, you will gain hands‑on experience while contributing to active planning work.

You will help prepare maps, reports, planning documents, and presentations, participate in public meetings and workshops, and support senior planners as projects move forward.

The team supports transportation and bridge-related work, helping communities rethink corridors and public spaces.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist with research on planning issues, including demographic trends, land use patterns, and environmental impacts
  • Help prepare maps, reports, and planning documents using GIS software and other tools
  • Participate in public meetings and workshops to gather community input and provide information on planning initiatives
  • Assist in reviewing zoning applications and community plans to ensure compliance with local regulations and ordinances
  • Conduct site visits to gather data and assess compliance with planning regulations
  • Work with public officials, developers, and community members to support planning projects
  • Help prepare reports and presentations to communicate planning proposals and findings to stakeholders
  • Provide support to senior planners in managing planning projects and initiatives
What You’ll Bring Required Education
  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Planning, Environment Studies, Architecture, or Arts, or equivalent required
Experience
  • None required
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Adobe Suite, and Sketch Up
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred
  • Prior internship experience in the consulting industry preferred
