- Provide technical oversight and engineering support for assigned ATBs.
- Collaborate directly with vessel Chief Engineers and shoreside management to maintain safe and efficient vessel operations.
- Monitor propulsion machinery, auxiliary equipment, electrical systems, and other critical vessel components.
- Manage planned and corrective maintenance activities across the fleet.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and technical issues, coordinating repairs with vessel personnel and external vendors.
- Plan and oversee shipyard periods, drydockings, major repairs, and equipment overhauls.
- Coordinate contractors, vendors, parts procurement, and technical services.
- Monitor maintenance and repair expenses, assisting with operating and capital budgets.
- Ensure compliance with USCG, ABS/class, environmental, and other maritime regulatory standards.
- Review vessel deficiencies, inspection findings, technical reports, and implement corrective actions.
- Support regulatory inspections, surveys, audits, and certifications.
- Maintain effective communication between vessel crews and shoreside operations regarding technical issues and vessel readiness.
- Travel to vessels, ports, and shipyards as required to support operational needs.
- Strong marine engineering background with experience aboard ATBs, tugboats, tank barges, tankers, or similar commercial vessels.
- Previous leadership experience as Chief Engineer, Port Engineer, Technical Superintendent, or Technical Manager is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of diesel propulsion, auxiliary machinery, electrical systems, and vessel maintenance.
- Proven experience managing planned maintenance programs, vessel repairs, and shipyard projects.
- Familiarity with USCG, ABS/class, and other regulatory requirements.
- ATB, tugboat, or tank-barge experience is highly desirable.
- USCG engineering license or equivalent maritime engineering credentials is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, communication, and vendor-management skills.
- Ability to travel as needed to support vessel operations and maintenance.
