A Top 25 accounting firm is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead and manage complex tax engagements for professional services clients, as well as high net worth individuals, families, and related entities. This role requires deep technical tax expertise, strong client advisory skills, and the ability to manage multiple sophisticated engagements simultaneously. The ideal candidate brings a consultative mindset and hands‑on experience with complex compensation structures, multi‑entity planning, and K‑1 driven income.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering proactive tax planning and advisory services.
- Advise clients across a range of areas, including S corporations, partnerships, high net worth individuals, and trusts and estates.
- Identify tax‑saving opportunities and strategic planning initiatives spanning personal and business interests.
- Review complex federal, state, and local tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120‑S, and 709.
- Provide guidance on multi‑state taxation, partner compensation models, buy‑in/buy‑out structures, retirement planning, and entity structuring or conversions.
- Conduct tax research and prepare technical memoranda on complex tax issues.
- Lead multiple engagements concurrently, managing timelines, budgets, and client expectations.
- Coordinate with attorneys, wealth advisors, and other third‑party professionals as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
- Active CPA license or EA certification required.
- 7+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting.
- Strong technical expertise in individual, partnership, S corporation, trust, gift, and investment partnership taxation.
- Experience with multi‑entity and multi‑state tax issues, including K‑1 allocations.
- Proficiency with MS Office and tax research platforms (CCH, BNA, RIA); CCH Axcess experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and complex engagements.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with executive presence.
- Proven ability to build strong client relationships and contribute to firm growth.
- MST, JD, or LLM in Taxation.
- Experience with foreign‑related tax returns.
- Prior experience advising professional services or practice‑based clients.
This is a w-2, hybrid role requiring some onsite work in Ft Lauderdale, FL.
