Primary PurposeSupports the dean(s) of the assigned college(s) in leading and managing its fiscal affairs and business operations. Performs financial planning and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, accounting and reporting, and operational data analysis. While reporting to the university’s central finance office, collaborates with the dean(s) to ensure fiscal responsibility and support the college’s mission and goals, aligning its financial strategies with the broader university objectives.

Essential Job Functions- 1. Serves as a liaison between college and assigned university operating unit(s) administrators, faculty, and staff, and university central service departments as it relates to financial operations.
- 2. Develops and implements college specific financial guidelines in alignment with central university policies, processes, and objectives (e.g., allocation methods or protocols, consistent program level reporting, etc.).
- 3. Reviews transactions and monitors revenue and expense activity to ensure compliance with college guidelines, university policies, and external regulations, as applicable. Includes various processes and systems.
- 4. Directs and coordinates, in conjunction with the dean(s), the daily financial operations of the college(s) and completes routine tasks such as preparing journal entries and budget transfers, ensuring proper and timely use of restricted funds, verifying proper posting of tuition and fees, conducting reconciliations and investigating account details, etc.
- 5. Supports the dean(s) in developing and managing the college’s annual budget; collaborates with department heads to develop and manage departmental budgets ; monitors expenditures to ensure alignment with the approved budget; identifies cost-saving opportunities and implements efficiency improvements.
- 6. Provides direction and guidance to faculty on formulating grant budgets; monitors and reviews post award grant budgets (Federal, State and Private) in order to implement employee actions and labor distribution changes indicated by the grant.
- 7. Manages the College's effort coordination process (ECRT) for faculty and researchers while adhering to the Office of Sponsored Projects' policies and guidelines; liaises with all parties involved to ensure correct budgeting of full and partially grant funded positions.
- 8. Performs detailed reviews and analysis to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information and supports informed and timely decision-making. Includes regular in-depth variance analysis and trend identification at the major program and overall college levels.
- 9. Conducts current and long-term financial forecasting and risk analysis in consultation with the dean(s); prepares ad hoc financial analysis/reports and reviews standard reports; provides financial insights and recommendations to the dean(s) and university finance leadership.
- 10. Participates in strategic planning and advises the dean(s) on key financial data as it relates to identification of both threats and opportunities; prepares financial proformas/business plans and evaluates financial implications of new initiatives and projects in consultation with the dean(s) and central finance.
