Position: Manager I - Payment & Operations

Summary

The Manager of Operation reports to the Director of Operation. This role is responsible for overseeing daily accounting functions, including wire transfer, ACH and share drafts, financial operations, and compliance. This role ensures accuracy in financial transactions, manages reconciliations, and supports operational efficiency within the credit union. A background in a credit union or banking environment is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily processing of ACH transactions, wire transfer, and share drafts, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency in ACH, wire, and Fed payment processing.
  • Ensuring compliance with NCUA, OFR, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor transactions for discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
  • Handle complex payment disputes, chargebacks, and transaction errors.
  • Identify and resolve issues as they arise, ensuring smooth payment process and operations.
  • Track and analyze payment processing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in evaluating and integrating new payment technologies.
  • Ensuring operation transaction records align with accounting entries to prevent discrepancies.
  • Coordinating efforts to meet financial regulations and audit requirements.
  • Assist with audits and regulatory examinations by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance operational efficiency and improve member service.
  • Provide training and guidance to Payment and Operation staff, ensuring proficiency in Core System Symitar, General Ledger, Synergy and other related systems.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to payment operations staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Develop and implement payment and operation procedures.
  • Responsible for handling department wide projects and tasks as assigned.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Experience: 10+ years of experience in accounting, including strong working knowledge of credit union daily accounting operations. Background in a credit union or banking environment is preferred, not required.

System/Program Knowledge: Proficient in Banking Software‑Symitar, Synergy, Accounting systems and Microsoft Office Excel. Oracle Net Suite experience is a plus.

Additional Requirements: Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail. Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
