Senior Commercial Portfolio Manager

Role Overview

The Portfolio Manager is a key member of the coverage team, managing transaction and business portfolio tasks, overseeing credit decisions, and driving risk management while ensuring a positive customer experience.

Responsibilities
  • Accountable for managing a portfolio of accounts and reviewing updated financial statements.
  • Recommend credit decisions and provide policy interpretation to business partners.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers to meet with clients, assess credit viability, define borrowers and guarantors, decide deal structure, credit terms, covenants, and collateral.
  • Generate commitment letters and capture/ document credit decisions, conditions, and modifications.
  • Perform final risk rating analysis and communicate credit events or actions directly to clients.
  • Maintain Investor Group on lender portal, perform monitoring actions, conduct periodic deal reviews, and execute renew or modify decisions.
  • Pitch complex deal structures independently and mentor junior PMs and Credit Analysts.
  • Collaborate with Credit Analysts on portfolio management duties and risk monitoring.
  • Supervise and provide performance feedback to employees, support talent development, and ensure bench strength.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of commercial banking credit analysis and/or loan review experience.
  • Proficient analytical, critical‑thinking, and communication skills; client‑facing professional presence.
  • Experience managing an advanced commercial client portfolio with substantial complexity.
  • Ability to partner with all deal stakeholders, including clients, relationship managers, and credit teams.
  • Expertise in financial and risk analysis, with strong financial modeling abilities.
  • Effective problem‑solving skills and proficiency with technology applications.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
