We are currently seeking a dynamic and highly-skilled Legal Senior Accountant to join our team. This role is a unique hybrid position, combining the responsibilities of a traditional accountant with the nuances of the legal industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and analysis of WIP schedules, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and managing the general ledger. This role also requires the ability to conduct risk assessments, analyze financial data, and develop budgets and forecasts.

The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of sales tax in Florida, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Preference will be given to candidates with experience using Aderant software.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards and procedures.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting, providing accurate and timely data to support strategic decision making.
• Prepare and analyze WIP schedules, identifying areas of concern and suggesting solutions to improve financial performance.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, identifying potential financial risks and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.
• Analyze financial data, producing reports and presentations to inform senior management of financial performance.
• Develop budgets and forecasts, working closely with various departments to ensure financial plans align with organizational objectives.
• Ensure compliance with sales tax regulations in Florida, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, providing guidance and advice to the organization as required.
• Perform ad hoc financial tasks as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the legal industry.
• Proficiency in Aderant software is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of sales tax regulations in Florida, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and produce clear, concise reports.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial staff.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify financial risks and develop effective strategies to mitigate these risks.
• High level of integrity, with the ability to handle sensitive financial information in a confidential manner.
