Position Summary The Catering Event Staff supports the successful execution of private events, internal meetings, and special functions throughout the Broward Center campus. This position is primarily responsible for preparing, setting, maintaining, and restoring event spaces; supporting beverage and light catering operations; assisting with bar service; and maintaining event equipment and departmental work areas. This role is an essential part of the Catering & Events team and contributes to providing an exceptional experience for clients and guests.

Essential Functions Set up, break down, and reset meeting rooms, reception spaces, ballrooms, theaters, and other event venues according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), room diagrams, departmental procedures, safety practices and supervisor direction.

Arrange and transport event equipment furnishings and supplies throughout the Broward Center campus.

Prepare, replenish, and break down beverage stations including coffee, tea, water service, glassware, disposable service ware, and related accompaniments.

Set up and break down continental breakfasts, refreshments, and light food service for internal meetings and board functions.

Provide barback support by stocking bars with beverages, mixers, ice, glassware, garnishes, and supplies before and during events.

Assist contracted catering vendor(s) with food and beverage service when operational needs require.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of event spaces, storage rooms, equipment, furniture, and supplies.

Accurately record work hours.

Request clarification whenever assignments or instructions are unclear.

Maintain event equipment, furnishings, and storage areas in a clean, organized, and operational condition and report damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, or safety hazards promptly.

Provide courteous, professional service to internal and external guests.

Promote a safe, efficient, and team-oriented work environment.

Perform additional duties, operational assignments, and special projects as needed to support the Catering & Events Department.

Accurately interpret Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), room diagrams, and setup instructions.

Prioritize multiple assignments while adapting to changing event schedules.

Work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.

Provide professional customer service and maintain positive working relationships.

Follow established safety procedures and proper lifting techniques.

Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull furniture, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds independently.

Move items exceeding 50 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment.

Stand and walk for extended periods during scheduled shifts.

Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, stoop, climb stairs, reach overhead, and perform repetitive movements.

Safely operate carts, dollies, hand trucks, ladders, and other equipment used in event setup and breakdown.

Supervisory Responsibilitiesn/aDesired Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous hospitality, event, catering, facilities, warehouse, or customer service experience are helpful but not required.

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
