Salary: $53,468 - $63,493 (Salary commensurate with education and experience)
Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for gathering, extracting, compiling, and analyzing data to create comprehensive reports that will support decision making. The role will conduct analysis using internal and external data sources, prepare reports and research briefs, and present findings through oral presentations at meetings and conferences. The analyst will assist in data validation and play a vital role in building and maintaining data dictionaries and glossaries, documenting data‑related processes, and performing related duties as assigned.
Minimum EducationAssociate’s degree. Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field (computer science, mathematics, statistics, economics, engineering, or social sciences) strongly preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum Experience/TrainingFour years of experience in data extraction and validation, statistical analysis, reporting writing, and making presentations in a related field, preferably within higher education. Experience includes software such as Power BI, Power Query, DAX formulas, SQL database management platforms (e.g., SSMS, pg Admin), and other statistical software (excluding spreadsheet packages). Familiarity with database tools such as SAS, Access, SQL, Paradox, and dBase or equivalent is required.
EssentialFunctions
- Daily –15%:
Develop and maintain certification and reconciliation procedures to manage the accuracy of data for local, state, and federal reporting. - Daily –10%:
Import retrieved data into databases and spreadsheets, perform advanced analysis, identify trends, verify data validity, and recommend procedural changes. - Other, as needed –10%:
Participate in meetings and conferences with vendors and other colleges to establish technical procedures for the state reporting system. - Daily –10%:
Perform data analysis and verification, and import data into various tools. - Daily –10%:
Conduct longitudinal studies and demographic/geographic data analysis, gathering and synthesizing relevant information. - Daily –10%:
Create procedures to automate routine periodic functions for importing, exporting, and analyzing data. - Daily –10%:
Collaborate with departments to translate business requirements into data objects, developing prototypes for end‑user evaluation. - Daily –10%:
Prepare reports, documentation, and related materials outlining research results, including evaluating, organizing, verifying, and extrapolating data. - Other, as needed –5%:
Design and develop electronic workflow processes to facilitate information delivery. - Daily –5%:
Identify and document information access needs in partnership with data owners to ensure compliance with privacy and security regulations. - Other, as needed –5%:
Perform related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in research design, implementation, analysis, and dissemination related to higher education.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database technologies.
- Expertise with Power BI, Power Query, DAX formulas, and SQL database management platforms (SSMS, pg Admin).
