BI Report Developer

Position: BI/Report Developer

Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL

Salary: 70-80k + Bonus

The BI/Report Developer is a versatile and experienced professional responsible for enabling business intelligence through a variety of open source tools and delivery channels while coordinating data warehouse requirements on behalf of the business partners. The role involves developing and maintaining objects and reports within a LAMP environment and focusing on building and documenting highly automated applications that produce accurate, relevant, and timely reporting.

Success depends on gaining an expert understanding of the business partners’ metrics (trends over time, actuals vs. forecasts, business data rules, etc.) and helping the business extract value from the warehouse by leveraging open source applications such as Pentaho Open BI Suite. Strong business acumen and effective communication are essential.

MUST HAVE LAMP AND OLAP

• Defines functional requirements and develops open source solutions supporting the client’s business requirements.
• Develops and implements reports and front-end data access solutions based on functional designs or equivalents using an open source suite of tools.
• Maintains and modifies reports, attributes, metrics, and underlying views as required.
• Administers production database systems and their security, coordinating schema changes with DBA and ETL specialists.
• Troubleshoots operational data issues and performs ad‑hoc reporting as directed by business partners.
• Acts as a self‑starter, highly business‑focused, and works effectively within a team environment.
• Possesses trouble‑shooting skills and can successfully fulfill business information delivery needs.
• Has strong SQL and RDBMS skills; LAMP environment preferred.
• Has experience with BI tools, preferably open source tool suites.
• Has dimensional modeling experience.
• Is experienced at tuning reports and designing for performance.
• Has report development experience in a LAMP environment.
• Is detail‑oriented with superior analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.

• 3‑5+ years of IT experience.
• 2‑3+ recent years of experience as a BI/Report developer; preferable in a LAMP environment.
• Extensive experience in data warehousing, business intelligence, and/or decision support concepts, methodologies, and analysis.
• Extensive knowledge of data warehouse concepts, technologies, and best business practices.
• Experience in data modeling, data sourcing, data transformation, data loading, data cleansing, data integrity checking, and end‑user tools.
• Experience with data warehousing, data marts, and OLAP in a LAMP environment.
• Experience working with highly demanding business requirements.
• Experience in a data warehousing environment, including the ability to accurately estimate work efforts, develop project plans, and deliver on goals.
• Expertise with SQL required.
• Previous experience in reporting/analysis for the internet marketing industry is a plus.
• Must have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
