Cole, Scott & Kissane, an AV-rated litigation firm, is seeking a full-time,
experienced litigation legal assistant for its Fort Lauderdale East (Downtown) office. The prospective candidate will work for one of our several practice groups specializing in Commercial Litigation, Employment, Community Association, and overall civil litigation matters. This position requires exceptional tech savviness, organizational skills, the ability to perform well within a team environment, and to communicate professionally with clients and opposing counsel.

The legal assistant will:

  • Schedule depositions, pre‑depositions, meetings, mediations, and hearings using a variety of ancillary systems and programs.
  • Maintain attorneys’ calendars with exceptional accuracy.
  • Draft legal court documents, such as notices, non‑technical motions, affidavits, and subpoenas.
  • E‑file legal documents in Florida’s E‑Portal System and in federal courts.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, trials, and conferences.
  • Send correspondence to parties and non‑parties via email, regular mail, or certified mail.
  • Communicate with opposing counsel, judicial assistants, court reporters, clients, etc.
  • Set up Court Call, Teams, or Zoom for hearings.
  • Use case management systems (Litify, iManage) and document management.
  • Perform additional duties as required by Managing Attorney/Office Manager.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of litigation experience in a law firm setting.
  • Experience with e‑filing in both state and federal courts.
  • Knowledge of case management systems and billing software is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail‑oriented, able to multi‑task and stay calm under pressure.
  • Stable job tenure of two or more years in each position.
  • Must reside in South Florida; this is an on‑premises position with no remote work.
  • Previous experience scheduling depositions, pre‑depositions, meetings, mediations, and hearings using a variety of ancillary systems and programs is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe.
