Longline Operator
Work for Broward County Government. Position open in the Traffic Engineering Division. The job will remain open until sufficient number of applications are received and may close at any time.

Requirements and PreferencesApplicants must be punctual, flexible, responsive to direction, have strong safety awareness and attention to detail. The position is a four‑day work week, ten (10) hours per day. Either Monday–Thursday or Tuesday–Friday, depending on business needs. Requires working outdoors, in extreme heat, in live vehicular traffic. Employees must pay close attention to safety of crew and public and quality assurance of materials applied.
GeneralDescription
Operates and manages a pavement marking truck. Performs installation of thermoplastic longlines, complying with quantity, quality, safety standards and traffic engineering specifications. Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsRequires four (4) years of experience in the application of pavement markings or closely related experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses RequiredA valid Florida Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with airbrakes and the ability to obtain a Forklift operation certification within six (6) months of employment.
Preferences- Associate’s Degree or higher in Construction Management, General Studies, Applied Sciences, Construction Trades or closely related field.
- Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Certification Intermediate Level.
- Fork Lift Certification.
Schedules pavement marking crew, participates in installation and maintenance, operates and manages pavement marking truck, operates reflectometer. Provides training to subordinates, records maintenance, maintains reports, performs equipment maintenance checks and reports malfunctions. Acts as lead person responsible for crew and public safety and verifies standards. Performs maintenance on paint stripers and kettles. Performs final inspections and places orders for materials.
WORK ENVIRONMENTPhysical demands include walking, standing, stooping, jumping, stretching, lifting. Exerts between 20 and 50 pounds regularly. Exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals. Unavoidable hazards from working while operating heavy equipment in traffic.
