The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of:
Capital Project Management Supervisor (Core) - Construction Management Division.
This announcement will remain open until a sufficient number of applications are received and may close at any time. The Public Works and Environmental Services Department, Construction Management Division, consists of a select group of architects, engineers, and construction professionals that direct the planning, design and construction process for new and large renovation projects for Broward County, excluding airport and port projects.
This CPMS position for the Broward County requires a highly trained professional with experience in the oversight and direction of the planning, design and construction of complex capital vertical projects. It is important to note that the percentage of a supervisor's time spent overseeing active construction projects is about 25% to 30% during the lifetime of a project. Accordingly, the ideal candidate should have strong planning and design management ability.
This is an advanced professional and administrative position with supervisory responsibilities in the management of vertical construction projects for the County. This exciting and challenging position will assist the Division Director and Assistant Director in planning, assigning and reviewing the work of a professional staff of Project Managers. This position serves as the lead supervisor on a variety of design and construction projects within the Division.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a high-level project manager in large-scale ($15 million+), vertical construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the planning, programming, design, procurement, documenting and construction administration of projects as well as the oversight of multiple consulting professionals, contractors and others. The top candidate will possess strong communication skills as related to informing direct supervisors, County Administration, and elected officials.
The ideal candidate will have familiarity with the latest construction methods and technology including Building Information Modeling (BIM), document control programs, and scheduling programs. LEED Accreditation designation and experience are preferred.
Performs advanced professional and administrative work with supervisory responsibilities in the management of construction projects for the County. Works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in architecture and/or engineering or closely related field;
Master's degree preferred.
Requires six (6) years in professional architectural or engineering work, including four (4) years of experience in project management and supervision of staff appropriate to the area of assignment or closely related experience.
Registration as a professional architect or registered engineer or NCIDQ (Space Planning Only) based upon area of assignment.
Master's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Urban Design, Master Planning, or closely related field
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
Certified Master Planner
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) certification or Emergency Management certification
Licensed Interior Designer or NCIDQ certification
At least five (5) years of experience in accounting principles relative to project budget and costing adherence
At least five (5) years supervising and managing all phases of multiple vertical mid-scale construction projects concurrently.
At least five (5) years of experience in government contract procurement and management of complex, large-scale vertical construction projects and experience in public sector construction…
