How you make a differenceThe Regional Nurse Educator is responsible for developing, reviewing, and implementing comprehensive training programs for nursing staff, focusing on ensuring competence and proficiency in caring for adults with serious and persistent mental illness, substance use disorders, and chronic medical problems. This includes designing and delivering training sessions, evaluating training effectiveness, and providing ongoing support and education to nursing staff to meet the unique needs of the patient population served.
The Regional Nurse Educator also collaborates with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders to ensure that nursing staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver high‑quality care in a compassionate, patient‑centered manner.
- Develop, implement, and coordinate comprehensive educational programs for nursing staff, including orientation, ongoing curriculum needs, recertification, and continuing education programs to enhance and maintain knowledge and competencies.
- Ensure all nursing education programs comply with current regulatory requirements and are evidence‑based.
- Monitor nursing staff progress in meeting educational goals, maintain training database, and assess and document staff competencies during orientation and annually.
- Collaborate with nursing school programs in the community to provide clinical practice development and placement opportunities for students, including orientation and mentoring during clinical rotations.
- Provide oversight and supervision to Regional Compliance and Accreditation Monitor, assume role of ERMA Committee chairman, and conduct ERMA Super User Trainings and monthly CPR trainings for all employees, while also providing one‑on‑one training for medical and mental health personnel as needed.
Education
- Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing or another healthcare related field.
Experience
- A minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience in psychiatric mental health nursing is required, preferably with an additional two (2) years of educator experience.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills required.
- Experience in Performance Improvement preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
- Must hold a current license as a registered nurse in the state of employment.
