Job Overview

We are a regulated hemp processing laboratory seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Analytical Chemist with strong expertise in High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) calibration, validation, and troubleshooting. This role is critical to ensuring accurate analytical testing, instrument reliability, and regulatory compliance throughout our hemp processing operations.

Our laboratory operates in a fast‑paced, production‑driven environment where efficiency, accuracy, and regulatory compliance must work together seamlessly. The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, can manage multiple priorities, and maintains strict adherence to GMP and quality standards while meeting operational timelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain HPLC systems used in the analysis of hemp‑derived raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
  • Perform routine and advanced instrument calibration, system suitability testing, and performance verification.
  • Troubleshoot HPLC issues including pressure fluctuations, peak shape anomalies, retention time shifts, baseline noise, detector inconsistencies, and software errors.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and coordinate service or repairs as needed.
  • Support instrument qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ).
Analytical Testing and Method Validation
  • Perform analytical testing to support hemp processing operations in a high‑throughput environment.
  • Execute method validation, verification, and transfer protocols in accordance with regulatory and quality standards.
  • Analyze chromatographic data and ensure accurate, defensible reporting of results.
  • Support method optimization and continuous process improvements.
Regulatory Compliance and GMP
  • Ensure laboratory operations comply with applicable hemp regulations, GMP standards, and internal quality systems.
  • Maintain accurate, audit‑ready documentation including calibration records, validation protocols, SOPs, test results, and deviation reports.
  • Follow strict GMP and data integrity practices.
  • Support internal audits, external inspections, and regulatory reviews.
  • Participate in investigations, CAPA implementation, and compliance initiatives.
Laboratory & Operational Support
  • Maintain laboratory organization and readiness in accordance with GMP standards.
  • Ensure all instruments remain calibrated and compliant.
  • Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance, Compliance, and Processing teams to support production timelines.
  • Contribute to SOP development and process improvements to enhance efficiency in a fast‑moving environment.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or Toxicology.
  • 2+ years of hands‑on HPLC experience in a regulated laboratory setting.
  • Proven experience with HPLC calibration, validation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Experience working under GMP, GLP, or regulated quality systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑throughput laboratory environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in hemp, cannabis, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or food processing laboratories.
  • Knowledge of cannabinoid analysis and hemp regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience supporting regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Experience with method validation per industry standards.
Compensation
