Graduate Research Assistant

Primary Purpose

Participates in the design, execution, analysis, and evaluation of research projects directly aligned with the educational goals of the student and the Oceanographic Center.

• Contributes to basic and applied research activities. Performs a variety of tests, makes detailed observations, analyzes data, and interprets results.
• Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
• Will participate in the publication of significant results.
• Advances expertise through education, training, and/or research experience.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

• Knowledge of R programming language, Genomics data analysis skills, and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Database and data entry skills.
• Ability to utilize or learn to utilize software relevant to the research program, new research methods and, work routines quickly.
• Ability to attain required certification for applicable research program or project.
• Ability to read and comprehend genomics data reports and other scientific literature.

Bachelor's Degree

Biology or related science

• Six (6) months experience working in a laboratory or scientific research environment.
• Must be currently enrolled in a graduate program at the Oceanographic Center.
