Position OverviewThe company is seeking an accomplished Director of Business Development & Client Services to lead business-development efforts across South Florida. This individual will generate new business, expand regional relationships, identify upcoming projects and bid opportunities, and increase the company’s visibility throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. The Director will spend significant time in the market developing relationships while maintaining a consistent presence in the Fort Lauderdale office.
This person will collaborate with executive leadership, preconstruction, estimating, marketing, and operations to convert market intelligence and relationships into qualified opportunities and awarded projects.
- Develop and execute a business-development strategy for South Florida.
- Identify and pursue municipal, public-sector, education, healthcare, civic, senior-living, and commercial construction opportunities.
- Build relationships with owners, developers, government officials, school districts, public agencies, architects, engineers, and consultants.
- Conduct outbound prospecting through phone calls, emails, networking, office visits, and in-person meetings.
- Monitor capital-improvement programs, RFQs, RFPs, invitations to bid, procurement schedules, and upcoming projects.
- Attend industry events, association meetings, community functions, and pre-bid meetings.
- Strengthen existing client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business.
- Partner with preconstruction, estimating, marketing, and operations to qualify and pursue opportunities.
- Participate in go/no-go decisions, proposal development, shortlist presentations, and client interviews.
- Maintain accurate pipeline, relationship, and business-development activity within the CRM.
- Provide leadership with updates regarding market conditions, competitors, project opportunities, and revenue forecasts.
- Represent the company as a senior ambassador throughout the South Florida construction community.
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, construction management, architecture, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 8-12+ years of business development, client relations, sales, or market-development experience.
- Experience with in general contracting, construction management, architecture, engineering, real estate development, or a related industry.
- Established relationships throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.
- Experience pursuing municipal, public-sector, education, healthcare, civic, or institutional projects strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of public procurement, RFQs, RFPs, bid processes, preconstruction, and construction pursuits.
- Demonstrated success developing qualified pipelines and converting relationships into awarded business.
- Strong executive presence, presentation skills, and ability to communicate with senior decision-makers.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms and Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly throughout South Florida.
The ideal candidate is a credible and highly connected construction business-development professional who knows how to open doors, build trust, and navigate long sales cycles.
This person is comfortable making outbound calls, attending community events, meeting with senior decision-makers, identifying public opportunities, and supporting competitive project pursuits.
