The Director of Business Development is responsible for developing and executing strategic business development initiatives that generate negotiated construction opportunities within the luxury residential marketplace. This individual serves as the face of the company, cultivating long-term relationships with architects, interior designers, owners, owner's representatives, luxury residential developers, and other key influencers who drive contractor selection.
Success in this role is achieved by becoming a trusted resource within the luxury residential community and generating opportunities that align with the company's reputation, capabilities, and long-term growth objectives. The Director of Business Development will represent the company from initial introduction through contract execution while ensuring a seamless transition into preconstruction and operations.
This is a relationship-driven position where credibility, professionalism, discretion, persistence, and exceptional communication are essential.
YOU WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR Business Development- Develop and execute a strategic business development plan focused on luxury custom homes and high-end condominium interior projects.
- Identify and pursue negotiated construction opportunities throughout the luxury residential marketplace.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with:
- Residential Architects
- Interior Designers
- Private Owners
- Owner's Representatives
- Luxury Residential Developers
- Family Offices
- Other trusted advisors serving high-net-worth clients
- Become recognized as a trusted resource within South Florida's luxury residential design community.
- Regularly meet with architects, designers, and prospective clients to develop meaningful long-term relationships.
- Attend networking events, architectural and design functions, charitable events, and luxury residential industry organizations.
- Qualify prospective projects to ensure alignment with the company's expertise and project selection criteria.
- Coordinate client introductions with executive leadership.
- Assist with qualifications packages, presentations, interviews, and proposal development.
- Collaborate with estimating, preconstruction, and operations to ensure a smooth transition from business development through contract execution.
- Maintain an active pipeline of qualified opportunities and forecast future workload.
- Relationship Management
- Develop trusted advisor relationships rather than transactional sales relationships.
- Maintain consistent communication with architects, designers, owners, and referral partners.
- Generate repeat business through exceptional relationship management.
- Strengthen the company's reputation throughout the luxury residential marketplace.
- Monitor luxury residential construction activity throughout Miami-Dade County and the surrounding South Florida market.
- Identify emerging architects, designers, developers, and luxury residential trends.
- Track competitive activity and provide market intelligence to executive leadership.
- Recommend strategic opportunities that support long-term company growth.
- Maintain accurate CRM records of meetings, contacts, opportunities, and follow-up activities.
- Prepare monthly business development reports.
- Assist with annual business development planning.
- Measure and report return on networking and relationship-building activities.
- Minimum five years of successful business development experience within luxury residential construction, architecture, interior design, luxury real estate, or related professional services.
- Existing relationships within the Miami luxury residential marketplace strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success developing executive-level client relationships that result in negotiated work.
- Understanding of luxury custom home and luxury condominium interior construction.
- Strong networking, presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional follow-up and relationship management abilities.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Professional presence appropriate for high-net-worth clientele.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM software.
