Lead Avionics Technician - (Net Jets Hangar)
Oversees servicing, repairing, and overall maintenance of aircraft avionics to verify aircrafts are safe for flight. Ensures compliance to all FAA maintenance regulations and requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
The Lead Avionics Technician is responsible to the Manager, Maintenance Operations for the overall utilization of his area, to include the supervision of production personnel.
In addition the Lead Technician is responsible for the following:
- To ensure safe work practices are followed.
- To plan, direct and coordinate the activities of his areas so as to minimize delays, and increase production and efficiency.
- Plans, bids, and delegates job / task duties under the department for scheduled maintenance functions, drop-in maintenance also to include back shop tasks.
- Research future electrical/avionic service bulletin, A.D.’s, STC’s, & installations with regards to tooling, manpower, material needs and promote up-selling with maintenance and avionic sales manager.
- Coordinates with other department leads in future and ongoing production to aid in the work flow process.
- To provide training, and to assist subordinates in the proper procedures, methods and practices to be followed in each respective duty.
- To make available to personnel the necessary overhaul manuals, service bulletins, airworthiness directive and other required technical data.
- The maintaining of all equipment and tools in a serviceable and working condition.
- For ascertaining that all necessary work records are properly executed by the responsible person.
- The proper handling of all parts while in repair process.
- The preservation of all units or parts during process through the facility and after work is completed.
- The initiation of requisitions for stock and materials as required.
- The Lead Technician will be properly certificated in accordance with FAR Part 65.
General Responsibilities:
- Performs routine or special maintenance inspections to prevent failure of aircraft electrical and avionics systems and components; performs complete operational and functional checks on navigation, communication and flight control systems, including instrumentation and pilot static installations, etc. Fabricates wiring harnesses, installs/modifies avionic and electrical systems.
- Determines when a component should be repaired or replaced; decides upon necessary repair scheme and quantity and type of parts needed to accomplish proper repair; secures same from Stores or departmental supplies.
- Follows approved maintenance procedures for subject component or system, consulting internal procedures that have been FAA approved, original equipment manufacturers (OEM's) technical data, and work package instructions.
- Inspects completed work before sign off to identify any needed rework and performs rework; ensures that repaired components meet prescribed standards and tolerances.
- Performs serviceability tests on repaired components/systems using test equipment specified by the original equipment manufacturer.
- Completes work package documentation by signing/stamping off after finishing all designated operations.
- Performs installation of digital avionic equipment.
- Interprets avionic/electrical wiring diagrams, wire identification, harness fabrication, wiring and cable integrity, coax cables and fittings and connector assemblies.
- Adjusts, repairs, or replaces malfunctioning components or assemblies, using hand tools and soldering iron.
- Installs electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems in aircraft, using hand tools, power tools, and soldering iron.
- Interprets flight test data to diagnose malfunctions and systemic performance problems.
- Sets up and operates ground support and test equipment to perform functional flight test of electrical and electronic systems.
- Tests components or assemblies, using circuit tester, oscilloscope, and voltmeter.
- Trouble shoots, repairs, reworks, and modifies worn or defective assemblies, components or systems.
- In his absence, all duties of the Lead Technician may be delegated by him to any qualified personnel as necessary. However, such delegation does not relieve him of the overall responsibilities.
