PrimaryPurpose:
Under general supervision, maintains gas & diesel power generating plants and related electrical equipment in locations throughout Nova Southwestern University and performs duties related to HVAC repairs and maintenance. The position serves as the first line supervisor to HVAC Technicians.

Essential Job Functions:- 1. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on emergency generators to ensure operation and reliability of systems across NSU buildings. Ensures all generator fuel and fueling systems are maintained to include annual fuel polishing.
- 2. Supervises the work of HVAC Technicians to ensure timely response to customers.
- 3. Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems and equipment to ensure reliability across NSU buildings. Efforts include oversight, maintenance, and repairs for boiler systems, air compressors, and vacuum systems across the University.
- 4. Reviews and documents work and purchase orders, bids and material lists to account for materials purchased and time spent in completing assigned work to ensure smooth operation.
- 5. Maintains cost, inspection and maintenance records on generators, power systems, HVAC equipment, boilers, exhaust systems, air compressors, and vacuum equipment to ensure documentation of maintenance work and timely replacement.
- 6. Provides technical expertise and guidance to facilities personnel and outside contractors to assist them in understanding job requirements and planning for future projects.
- 7. Oversees vendors and contractors to ensure quality work is completed in a timely manner, and that correct materials are used and safety procedures are followed.
- 8. Prepares reports of inspection, and labor and material estimates to appraise management of conditions of property and equipment and materials needed for repairs.
- 9. Notifies appropriate University personnel of building conditions, equipment, and scheduled dates for repairs.
- 10. Responds to 24-hour emergencies for building and equipment repair.
- 11. Provides contract management for all generator, power systems, HVAC equipment, boilers, exhaust systems, air compressors, and vacuum equipment vendors performing services for the University.
- 12. Performs other duties as assigned.
- 1. 24/7 on call status for emergencies and hurricane response.
- 2. Ability to work on a rotational shift, (days, nights, weekends and holidays).
- 3. Work overtime as required.

Job Requirements:Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

- 11. Knowledge of local, state & federal HVAC codes to perform installation, maintenance and repair work to meet code requirements.
- 12. Awareness of proper use and hazards of chemicals (paints, primers, roof coatings, caustic acids, etc.);
Update MSDS information as needed. - 13. Knowledge of safety standards in working with tools and equipment.
- 14. Knowledge of electrical systems/theories, plumbing systems and operations and generator system circuit boards.
- 15. Repairing of diesel, propane and natural gas engines and generators.
- 16. Ability to read & interpret blueprints, sketches and schematics relating to buildings and utilities services systems.
