Qolo’s mission is to help businesses navigate today’s complex payments and financial transactions landscape. We empower organizations to manage payments efficiently while driving growth and reducing costs. Qolo supports companies wherever speed, security, and cost matter most—including banking, wage access, distribution payments, card processing, and modern fintech platforms.
The RoleWe are seeking a hands‑on Principal Full Stack Engineer with architect‑class experience building distributed systems that move billions of dollars. Customers use Qolo when they want a single, programmable platform that combines an embedded real‑time ledger, virtual accounts, and multi‑rail money movement (cards, ACH, wires, RTP, push‑to‑card) in one API. We enable some of the country’s largest banks to launch products without ripping out their core or stitching together multiple vendors.
This is not a “design from a distance” role -- you will lead by example, generate production code, guide architecture decisions, while helping us scale and secure our novel platform that is transforming the fintech industry. As one of the most senior engineering leaders on the team, you will push how build software in novel and reliable ways. The bad news is that our customer and business demands are relentless, we can’t work or hire our way out of these scaling challenges - we have to get more efficient.
If you are motivated by improving the what and the how by showing people how it’s done, then let’s talk.
- Lead the design, development, and evolution of scalable, secure, high‑performance distributed systems supporting payments and card processing.
- Make and influence architectural decisions across the full stack, including frontend, backend, data, and cloud infrastructure.
- Write high‑quality, production‑grade code (Angular, .NET Core, SQL Server) and set the standard for engineering excellence.
- Design and optimize RESTful APIs, microservices, and event‑driven systems.
- Architect, deploy, and operate cloud‑native solutions in Microsoft Azure.
- Champion CI/CD, Dev Ops practices, and automation to improve reliability, speed, and quality.
- Leverage AI‑enabled development tools to enhance engineering productivity and SDLC effectiveness.
- Ensure systems meet rigorous fintech standards for security, compliance, availability, and auditability.
- Take ownership of high‑impact initiatives and deliver results in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.
- Demonstrated success operating at a Principal Engineer or equivalent architect‑level role.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems architecture and large‑scale transaction platforms.
- Strong experience in fintech, payments, card issuing, or related financial infrastructure domains.
- Experience scaling systems in both startup and enterprise environments is highly valued.
- Modern Angular
- SQL Server
- Event‑driven architecture and messaging systems
- RESTful APIs and microservices
- CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices
- Secure coding practices in regulated environments
- Hands‑on technical leader who leads by example through code and execution.
- High ownership mentality with strong accountability for outcomes.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and adapting to evolving priorities.
- Pragmatic decision‑maker balancing velocity with long‑term scalability and maintainability.
- Strong communicator capable of aligning engineering strategy with business objectives.
- Shape the architecture of a rapidly scaling fintech platform.
- Solve complex distributed systems challenges in the payments ecosystem.
- Operate with meaningful ownership and influence in a high‑growth company.
- Build enterprise‑grade infrastructure without enterprise bureaucracy.
- Play a defining role in engineering culture, standards, and long‑term technical direction.
