HID Global is a leader in the government security and strong authentication solutions. We are currently seeking an Engineering Intern for our team. This intern could work on one or more of a variety of projects, such as:

• Software user interface design and enhancements - research various user interface frameworks and methodologies that could provide improved user experiences to existing software while minimizing engineering efforts needed.
• Improvements to software test automation infrastructure - add or augment existing software automation tools to provide further improvements to current product quality.
• Build robotic tooling - build devices to simulate human interactions with hardware devices.
• Embedded firmware development - build and improve embedded linux software for specialized security devices.
• Innovation around physical access control systems - design, refine, and implement ideas relevant to the PACS industry or other tooling to assist with the product development process.

• Collaborating with developers, test, and other full time engineering personnel.
• Understanding and clarifying software requirements.
• Developing test cases.
• Developing product knowledge.
• Creating scripts, software tools, and potentially hardware tools to assist with automated product testing infrastructure.
• Executing manual and automated tests.
• Assisting with debugging and error case reproduction.
• Documenting product defects and test fixes.

• Actively studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar for at least two years.
• Course work involving software development, or other technology-related product development.
• Experience with software development, computer programming, and basics of development environments.
• Experience with programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, etc.
• Experience with distributed version control systems (such as Git).
• Ability to clearly describe (verbally and written) technical information.
• Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, and analysis skills.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Strict attention to detail.
• Ability to independently solve problems.
