The Work You Will Do

Maintenance Manager/Field Operations / District Four / Transportation Operations / District Maintenance / Ft Laud Maint - Admin

This position will ensure the agency’s facilities, infrastructure, and field activities operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. By overseeing maintenance programs, coordinating field crews, managing equipment and resources, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, this role minimizes operational disruptions and supports the agency’s ability to deliver consistent, high-quality services to the community.

$74,307.58 - $96,162.75

Your Specific Responsibilities

Supervises employees spending the majority of the time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees’ work. Has the authority to effectively recommend the hiring, transferring, suspension, lay off, recalls, promotions, discharges, assignments, rewards, or disciplinary actions for subordinate employees. Plans and directs workloads, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with subordinate staff. Provides direction and ensures that all subordinates receive training and instruction in methods and techniques necessary to safely perform their assigned tasks.

Plan and direct routine maintenance activities on the state highway system, including bridges in accordance with Department policies, procedures, guidelines, specifications and manuals. Provide technical assistance on repair methods and practices to highway maintenance field crews. Analyze work needs and provide engineering judgment when developing solutions to resolve issues. Schedule and plan maintenance activities as identified in surveys, complaints and bridge or traffic operations work orders.

Prepare reports as needed on all field operations and ensure the compliance and completeness of inspections of roadway appurtenances as required by procedure.

Investigate and respond to complaints. This involves frequent contact with the public as a representative of the Department. Meet and communicate effectively with local government officials, civic groups and general public with regard to resolving complaints, and/or explaining Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) policies and procedures.
