POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

The Director of Fleet Safety for Moss will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of the Moss Fleet Safety Program at the Enterprise level reporting to the Senior Vice President of EH&S. This role will create, maintain, and oversee the Enterprise Fleet Safety program including validation of program compliance. The leader will develop, and manage Fleet Safety policies, standards, programs, and processes to ensure compliance with applicable local, regional, national, and federal regulations, directives, and standards.

This role will be responsible for leading the corporate Fleet Safety program, initiatives and projects for a fleet of 800+ vehicles throughout the United States including Hawaii comprised of company pickup trucks, SUV's and trailers. This position plays a critical role in leading a driver safety culture for our employees and ensuring compliance with DOT and other regulatory agencies. The Fleet Safety Leader will work closely with the Moss Fixed Asset Teams in both the Solar and Construction management businesses.

ESSENTIAL

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, develop, author and sustain the Enterprise Fleet Safety Program, procedures, processes and systems in compliance with Moss's EH&S Strategic Vision, expectations and in alignment with applicable regulations
  • Monitor, interpret, and assess existing or emerging Federal and State DOT regulations, regulatory policy, and industry practices, determine operational and business impacts
  • Develop, integrate and execute a Fleet Safety strategy, policy, program, procedures, standards, training, processes and actions to manage applicable requirements
  • Track driver performance. Collect, measure and analyze Fleet Safety metrics and KPI performances to discover trends for continuous improvement or corrective measures. Perform management reviews and report on Fleet Safety performance and tactical and strategic improvement planning
  • Perform validation audits and reviews to identify systemic Fleet Safety management gaps, develop corrective measures and implement solutions to sustain compliance with Federal and State DOT laws and company EH&S strategies, policies or standards. Leverage lessons learned and drive a continuous improvement program for Fleet Safety
  • Develop, integrate and execute a Fleet Safety orientation process for new drivers and an employee safety training for existing drivers
  • Establish a tracking and validation process for DOT compliance. Maintain all DOT licensing and reporting requirements
  • Partner and collaborate with the business units and support functions to influence and manage projects and business decisions
  • Manage regulatory agency and external stakeholder Fleet Safety activities, including reporting, visits, or inspections
  • Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • BS degree in Safety and Health, Transportation or equivalent
  • At least 10 - 15 years professional experience in transportation / fleet safety, including DOT safety compliance within a transportation environment. CDL experience (preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge of DOT rules and regulations to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws
  • BCSP CSP certification or similar in Transportation Safety
