Responsibilities

The Aircraft Ground Repositioning Coordinator is responsible for ensuring safe and timely movement of all aircraft by operating ground service equipment from all points on taxiways and ramp surfaces. Ensures that all aircraft moved in daily operations are completed by Spirit Airlines' safety standards.

Starting pay: $19.75/hr

  • Operate multiple aircraft system such as aircraft power unit, electrical, hydraulic and braking systems.
  • Communicate with both the air traffic control tower and local ramp control to successfully re position aircraft on the tarmac which includes active taxiways and runways.
  • Aid in securing and supporting aircraft on gates and in remote locations which includes the operation of ground service equipment (power units, air stairs, and air carts, ground power unit, tug, aircraft pushback, lavatory truck, deicing truck, etc.).
  • Responsible to adhere to all safety guidelines including pre and post move safety inspections.
  • Able to work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to operate and position Jetway safely to aircraft.
  • Guides aircraft to and from aircraft parking locations assuring area is clear of GSE, stands and any others items for safe movement. Assures Jetway is located in safe zone prior to positioning aircraft.
  • Capable of Brake Riding aircraft, operating radios and aircraft systems for safe movement.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate. (e.g. emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments).
Qualifications
  • Must hold a valid Non-Restricted Driver's License and be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous Ground Operations experience preferred.
  • Experience with basic work processing, email and office applications.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and fixed time constraints.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and 10-year background check.
  • Must be able to attend training for eight (8) weeks.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to use handheld radios and headsets to communicate with the cockpit, dispatch, and other team members.
  • Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, stairs and work stands unassisted;work off of stands and lift trucks.
  • Must be willing to work in an environment that is subject to changing climate conditions and moderate noise levels.
  • Must have excellent communication and people skills; clearly write, read, and speak the English language.
  • Ability to hold airport specific requirements such as a SIDA Badge and Customs Seal.
