Storekeeper

The Seaport Engineering and Facilities Maintenance Division is seeking a Storekeeper to perform responsible, specialized clerical and manual work in procuring and controlling materials, goods, equipment, and services at multiple assigned locations at Port Everglades.

Responsibilities
  • Perform annual and periodic inventory throughout the entire Division and at off-site locations.
  • Solve supply issues by researching catalogs and publications to determine item substitution, interchange, and compliance with specifications.
  • Receive, unload, and count assorted types of stock delivered in a receiving area.
  • Visually verify contents of shipments against packing slips and/or invoices for correctness and serviceability of materials.
  • Locate packing tickets or invoices and post to show the type and number of items received.
  • Post appropriate shipping receipts or other documents to indicate whether the delivery is a full or partial shipment.
  • Package various items for shipment or repackage stock for return or defective goods as assigned.
  • Label items with proper stock numbers for movement to the storeroom and storage areas.
  • Place goods on appropriate shelves or in bins.
  • Disburse tools and equipment as required by work requests, ensuring every item is returned.
  • Assist in moving supplies from one area to another as stock is reclassified to different numbers or codes.
  • Climb ladders as needed to arrange materials on shelves.
  • Utilize a fully‑automated computer system that includes all facets of the procurement module for the preparation of purchase requisitions.
  • Initiate orders to replenish supplies.
  • Request price quotations for commodities to be ordered and make comparisons to determine the lowest cost and best vendor.
  • Maintain current inventory of Port motor fuels and order motor fuels as needed.
  • Assist the IT department in setting up and taking down new workstations or adding and removing equipment as needed.
  • Prepare payroll preparation summaries for building services and deliveries; follow up with branch managers with emails confirming completed service requests, resolve library concerns and maintain sufficient inventories of tools, parts, and furniture.
  • Oversee and assist crew members as team leader, ensuring requests/special projects assignments are completed safely and efficiently by established deadlines or achieving goals; meet with crew about upcoming projects and events per pre‑schedule meetings.
  • Coordinate with high‑level manager’s daily operational activities and service requisitions, weekly schedules, vehicle and equipment assignments, pre‑schedule meetings and walkthroughs to determine the best way, report emergencies and urgencies.
  • Pull and issue materials/equipment for carpenters, electricians, painters, general maintenance mechanics, shop supervisors, building managers, and office staff; build purchase orders, quotes requests from computer data with manufacturer’s part numbers, supplier part numbers, with quantities needed; email/fax/call quotes to vendors.
  • Build purchase orders (PO), purchase documents (PD), and delivery orders (DO) from the vendor quotes; send PO to purchasing for approval; compile and complete all the necessary paperwork associated with receiving material; check invoice pricing against quotes; enter data into computer.
  • Procure stock for warehouse and special projects, search for price agreements or request vendor quotes via e‑mail and phone.
  • Maintain warehouse and equipment, keep area clean and orderly, keep equipment in proper working order, keep shelves stocked, bins full and in proper order.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires one (1) year in warehouse operations such as ordering, receiving, and inventory or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses Required
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment.
  • Transportation Worker Identification card (TWIC) within 60 days of employment and for the duration of employment.
  • Valid Seaport Business Purpose Credential for the duration of employment.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance, with occasional requirements for work after regular business hours.
