Duties
- Greet and account for visitors/applicants in and out of the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS); providing identification tags.
- Fingerprint applicants using automated system(s).
- Question applicants to obtain and/or verify complete data required for final data processing of forms and records for entry into the military service.
- Perform record management of electronic and paper applicant records.
- Cross-train to assist other sections/departments in the organization, when required.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employee may be required to work an occasional Saturday and/or shift work (work before 0600 or after 1800 hours).
- Employee will routinely be required to work unscheduled overtime to accommodate fluctuations in workload based on the daily mission requirements.
- Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.

Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience, which includes: 1) Utilizing office automation software to update account information; 2) Obtaining data from applicants for completion of personnel records; 3) Maintaining applicant records in accordance with an established filing system; AND 4) Utilizing appropriate formatting to create written correspondence and/or documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (
GS-04
).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
