ABOUT THE COMPANY

At Main stages, our mission is to deliver transformative experiences by bringing energy and purpose to everything we do. Our vision is a world that laughs louder, moves more, and connects deeper. Main stages creates interactive performances, workshops, and programs that kids love and educators trust. Main stages acts as a staffing agency, we do not determine pay and are not staff's direct employer.

This is a well-established camp located in the Midwest which pulls kids from across the nation. Camp GUCI is part of a network of camps called URJ, which are leaders in developing worthwhile, impactful communities to engage both campers and staff alike. This camp and Main stages have worked together for years, with Main stages providing a Theater Director who directs two shows throughout the course of the summer and has other supervisory responsibilities including helping to plan specialty days and other camp-wide creative events.

Responsibilities:

  • Rotating Activity Periods throughout the day (40 minute periods) 6 days a week. (There will be less rotating programs on Friday due to Shabbat.)
  • Direct Theater Production Periods take place 2 hours in the afternoon 6 days a week. (Additional day/evening rehearsals will be scheduled as the Production approaches.)
  • Any down time throughout the day can also be utilized to prep.
  • Age range of 4-15 for activity periods and 8-15 for production periods.
  • Production selections are TBD with input from the Theater Director.
  • Facilitate a curriculum that is theme based and celebrates diversity.
  • In-bunk housing with one roommate of the same sex.
  • The Theater Director is not assigned to a specific bunk/group of children, but will be required for general supervision rage of 53 hours weekly. All Specialists are required to be at breakfast at 7:45am. One night per week, TD will be on overnight duty from 11pm-1am. This includes a walk around the camp site and close down camp in the evenings.

The Theater Director should be prepared to lead possible evening activities throughout the summer.
  • Attend and complete online trainings with Main stages.
  • Infuse excitement in each lesson with age appropriate games and activities from the Main stages curriculum.
  • Travel assistance is provided up to $500.
