Civil Project Manager/Senior Project Manager – Land Development

Timmons Group is currently seeking a Civil Project Manager/Senior Project Manager candidate to join our Land Development Group located in our Prince George, VA office location.
Projects range from multi‑family and mixed‑use developments, market‑rate apartment communities, large‑scale commercial, industrial and distribution projects, to public land development projects such as schools, jails, fire stations and parks.
We assist our clients with zoning entitlements, civil site‑plan approvals, and construction administration support. Project engineers typically work in a team of 2‑3 design engineers and a project manager to bring the client’s vision to life. The complexity and fast‑paced nature of our client’s needs creates a dynamic environment that fosters teamwork, diverse training opportunities, and a sense of ownership in the successful outcome of the project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Design portions of a project using relevant office software, modeling, and Civil 3D technology.
- Complete calculations using engineering formulas and/or computer tools to solve problems.
- Prepare specification materials through research and manufacturing catalogs to specify materials, installation, inspection, and payment of items specific to a project.
- Work to complete design details and plan sets.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates.
- Communicate with client, staff, and internal design team.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related scientific area, or equivalent work experience.
- Professional registration (P.E., L.S., etc.) in one or more states in which Timmons Group conducts business is preferred.
- Ideal candidates will have 6+ years of experience in civil engineering related to residential land development projects.
- Must have a thorough understanding of project accounting and demonstrated ability to manage the schedule and budget for multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in marketing and supervising the technical work of others.
- Working knowledge of technical and office support software required to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Effective communication with others in daily tasks and assignments.
- Willingness to help others meet critical deadlines and to build professional working relationships.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
Compensation: Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $90,000–$140,000. Offers are based on a range of job‑related factors such as internal equity, experience, skills, education, credentials, and role complexity.
