Financial Advisor / Consultant
Responsibilities
- Provide personal financial services at assigned military installations.
- Offer comprehensive personal financial counseling to service members and their families, including one‑on‑one sessions, briefings, presentations, and referrals.
- Collaborate with installation and branch Points of Contact to ensure the program meets installation needs and stays within scope.
- Assist service members in developing spending plans for extended absences.
- Create and distribute informational financial materials.
- Coordinate and promote a variety of Personal Financial Management classes and workshops covering the military lifecycle (e.g., first duty station, deployment, personal and career events).
- Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling and other electronic communication modes such as web‑based secure chat and video teleconferencing, where authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
- Manage duty‑to‑warn situations in accordance with DoD protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing information on trends and issues.
- Engage in regular in‑services training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
- Perform any other duties assigned as part of the role.
- Bachelor’s degree required; an associate degree with 4 years of experience or a high school diploma with 6 years of experience may be considered.
- At least 3 years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizenship and fluency in English; bilingual English/Spanish required if specified by contract.
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier2 investigation.
- Compliance with the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- Certification as an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Salary range: $58,440 - $93,500 (adjusted based on experience, education, and job‑related factors). The position may be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, life, and voluntary benefits.
