Position:
Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (Level I)
Role & Responsibilities:The RN provides comprehensive, patient-centered care by coordinating interdisciplinary plans, assessing patient health, and implementing evidence-based interventions. They demonstrate leadership through delegation, mentorship, and participation in performance improvement activities. Key duties include timely patient assessments, developing and modifying care plans, administering medications, ensuring a safe environment, and effective communication with patients and healthcare teams. The RN documents care accurately, advocates for patient rights, and promotes a culture of professionalism, respect, and compassion.
They are responsible for maintaining competencies, participating in ongoing education, and adhering to policies and standards of practice.
An associate degree in nursing is required, with a BSN preferred. Candidates must hold a valid NY State RN license, with at least 2 years of ED experience. Proficiency in data systems, effective communication skills, and completion of required certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS) are essential. Additional requirements include successful completion of OSHA fit testing and annual assessments. The role demands strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team.
