Area Manager

The Area Manager will be responsible for overseeing and driving the operational success of multiple locations within a designated geographic region in the United States. This role requires strategic leadership to ensure that each site meets or exceeds performance targets related to sales, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. The Area Manager will collaborate closely with site managers to implement company policies, optimize resource allocation, and foster a positive work environment.

A key outcome of this position is to enhance overall business growth by identifying opportunities for improvement and executing effective action plans. The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt strategies to meet evolving market conditions and organizational goals.

Essential functions:

  • Oversee personnel needs of the department including selecting prioritized coaching, training, and evaluating employee performance. Provide input into hiring, termination, and promotion decisions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of training programs to ensure consistent performance while building relationships with a team to encourage retention.
  • Dispatch company drivers and subcontract haulers for material pick up and drop off.
  • Conduct scheduled performance reviews and submit recommendations for salary adjustments.
  • Enforce company policies and issuance of coaching/disciplinary documentation.
  • Maintain asset inventory lists and files. Maintain field equipment (Spreaders, farm tractors, pumps, wheel loaders, etc..) while maintaining full environmental compliance.
  • Assist Regional Ops. Mgr., with scheduling repairs and preventative maintenance for on-road and off-road equipment.
  • Obey and flag buffered zones on permitted fields before application.
  • Pull soil samples and have soil analysis completed before moving onto a new field.
  • Maintain customer relations at a high standard.
  • Manage Client Sampling program and perform sampling and lab submission.
  • Maintain proper record keeping for field logs
  • Use best management practices when applying to ensure that application is done correctly, and the landowner's property is being treated with respect.
  • Monitor land usage & manage farm storage sites ensuring efficient operations.
  • Monitor frac tank levels and farm storage site levels daily.
  • Maintain accurate and correct paperwork and submit it in a timely fashion.
  • Provide onsite management and support for field operations. (Run pumps, operate spreaders, farm tractors, load tanker trucks, and dump trucks, perform clean outs, operate wheel loaders, etc. When necessary)
  • Inspect and maintain all equipment being used in the field. Be aware of all equipment malfunctions and parts repair or replacement.
  • Ensure safe equipment operation.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Become a team player, be accountable, and have a positive and professional attitude.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong phone/email contact handling skills and active listening
  • Team player willing to help others as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to quickly learn new computer applications and systems.

Work environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to outside elements. The employee is exposed to wet, cold/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, or overwhelming odors. This position requires Field work as well as some office work.

Physical demands:
To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, drive, talk, climb, and hear. The employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and walk. The employee must occasionally lift.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position type and expected hours of work:
Hours of work will depend on the job event and manager. Evening, nights, and weekend work will be required as job duties demand. This position will have Field time management and Office time also.

Preferred education and experience:
High School Diploma or GED. Must have a valid driver's license. 2-3 years of experience, preferred. Class A CDL is a plus. Farm experience is preferred. Must be able to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
