Multi-Lingual Teacher

The Multi-Lingual (ML) Teacher supports multilingual learners by creating a classroom environment that promotes academic growth, language development, and student success. The teacher collaborates with building administration, classroom teachers, and district staff to support students whose primary language is not English. The ML Teacher works with students to develop English language proficiency while supporting access to grade-level academic content. The position emphasizes strong relationships with students, families, and staff while ensuring compliance with district and state multilingual learner program requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Language Development

  • Provide instruction and support for multilingual learners in accordance with district curriculum and Colorado English Language Development standards
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional strategies that support English language acquisition and academic achievement
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners

Student Support & Assessment

  • Assess student language proficiency and academic progress
  • Monitor and evaluate student growth and provide progress reports as required
  • Support implementation of district and state assessments for multilingual learners

Collaboration & Instructional Support

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support instructional strategies for multilingual learners
  • Work with school administration and district ML coordinators to support program implementation
  • Assist in identifying student needs and coordinate with staff to address academic or language development concerns

Family & Community Communication

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and program services
  • Encourage family involvement in student learning and school activities
  • Serve as a resource to families navigating the educational system
Professional Responsibilities

Participate in professional development related to multilingual education and language acquisition

Attend staff meetings and collaborate with faculty committees as required

Support district initiatives and school programs that promote student success

Perform additional duties as assigned to support school operations and student learning

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's Degree required

Licensure:
Valid Colorado Teaching License issued by the Colorado Department of Education CLDE (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education) endorsement required

Experience:

Experience working with multilingual learners or diverse student populations preferred

Technical

Skills:

Knowledge of English language development standards and instructional strategies Ability to differentiate instruction for language learners Strong collaboration and communication skills Ability to analyze student language data and adjust instruction accordingly Familiarity with instructional technology and district learning systems

Licenses and

Certifications:

Valid Colorado Driver's License required

Supervisory Responsibilities

No direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position primarily operates in a classroom and collaborative instructional environment supporting multilingual learners. The teacher works closely with classroom teachers, administrators, and families. Typical noise level:
Moderate

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to:
Stand and walk for extended periods Sit during instructional planning and student support activities Use hands to handle instructional materials and technology Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff Lift instructional materials up to 25 pounds occasionally
