SUbstitute Special Ed Associate

The Special Education Associate provides essential support to certified teachers and staff by assisting in the instruction, supervision, and care of students, particularly those with special needs. This role helps create a supportive, safe, and engaging learning environment through academic and behavioral support in both group and individual settings. The position will be filled as a substitute for the remainder of the current school year.

• Establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students, staff and other personnel contacted in the course of the work.
• Follow classroom expectations from multiple teachers and building expectations from administration.
• Provide academic assistance in reading, writing and math.
• Assist teachers and students in classrooms, small groups and one‑on‑one.
• Support students with special needs according to IEPs.
• Supervise and maintain discipline in various settings including classrooms, hallways, lunchroom, bus area, playgrounds, congested areas and arrival/dismissal zones.
• Assist with student behavior management and encourage appropriate conduct following the lead of certified teachers or building administration.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism regarding students, staff, and families.
• Complete required district training.
• Model appropriate language and behavior, ensuring that all students adhere to the school's expectations for being respectful.
• Pay close attention to student behaviors, interests, and individual needs to allow educators to tailor their instruction and provide appropriate support.
• Ensure the safety and well‑being of all students by executing school emergency procedures and protocols effectively during drills and real emergencies.
• Must be able to work patiently with maturing students, as they often have varying learning paces, and may display impulsive or reactive behaviors.
• Must be able to be available to sub frequently.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Minimum:
  High school diploma;
  Associate degree preferred.
• Must complete interview with HR Director.
• Pass background check.

Pay: $14.46 per hour

• Work is primarily performed in classrooms and school facilities.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moderate lifting/pushing/pulling.
