6:00pm - 6:30am, every other weekend

Performs reception and a variety of clerical functions and tasks utilizing specific knowledge of medical terminology and hospital procedures related to department specific needs. Provides basic patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse as required. Provides high quality care to the following patient populations:
Adult, Medical/Surgical, Geriatric, and Telemetry.

• Greet visitors and callers to ascertain purpose of visit or call, and direct them to appropriate staff.
• Facilitate admissions, discharges and transfers in collaboration with other staff.
• Operate office equipment such as nurse call, fax, scanners, photocopier, computer system, telephone system, and telemetry.
• Perform various clerical and administrative functions, such as ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies.
• Perform quality checks on equipment.
• Transport specimens and blood products.
• Adhere to safety practices for own personal protection, i.e. gloves for blood product pickup.
• Flexibility in unit assignment as directed by patient care needs.
• Demonstrate accurate keyboarding proficiency and computer navigation skills.

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• Completion of C.N.A course if currently in high school.
• Required Medical Terminology course or within one year of hire.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
• Ability to complete work functions with minimal errors and/or re-work.
• Ability to organize tasks in order of importance.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks at same time.
• Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
• Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
• Ability to identify and understand the speech of another person.
• Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
• Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

• 1-3 years computer classes/experience
• 1-3 years previous experience in the medical field
• Mandatory CNA course completion for MCU (will not take telemetry patients). May be required to go into airborne isolation (wear N95 or air mate).
