Rhino Medical is seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners for two full-time Urgent Care locum tenens opportunities in Fort Madison and Mount Pleasant, Iowa
, beginning August 31, 2026

These are true hands‑on Urgent Care positions for experienced NPs comfortable working as the solo provider
, managing acute illness and injury, performing common procedures, interpreting diagnostics, and providing Occupational Medicine services.
- Fort Madison: Full-time dedicated coverage
- Fort Madison / Mount Pleasant: Full-time float coverage between both clinics
Initial commitment is 4 months with opportunity to extend
.
- Start:
August 31, 2026 - 4-month locum tenens contract
- 2 full-time openings
- Approximately 34–40 hours/week
- Every other weekend
- Solo-provider practice
- Approximately 20–45 patients per shift
, depending on volume - Urgent Care + Occupational Medicine
- Onsite lab and X-ray capabilities
- eClinical
Works EMR - Approximately 2-week credentialing
- Extension potential
- Travel support when applicable
Clinic hours:
- Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM–6:00 PM
- Sunday: 1:00 PM–5:00 PM
- Every other weekend required
Provider schedules alternate at approximately 34 hours one week and 40 hours the next

Providers independently evaluate and treat a broad Urgent Care population, including:
- Acute illness and respiratory infections
- Minor injuries, sprains and strains
- Fracture evaluation
- Laceration repair and suturing
- Incision and drainage
- Wound care
- Splinting and casting
- Occupational injuries
- Physical examinations
- Point-of-care and laboratory testing
- X-ray and diagnostic interpretation
- Medication administration and injections
- IV fluids when indicated
- Stabilization and transfer of higher-acuity patients
EKG interpretation experience is preferred.
Requirements- Active, unrestricted Iowa Nurse Practitioner license
- Previous Urgent Care experience required
- Previous Occupational Medicine experience required
- ACLS and PALS
- DEA registration
- DOT certification or ability to obtain quickly
- Comfortable practicing as a solo provider
- Proficient with common Urgent Care procedures
- Comfortable managing approximately 20–45 patients per shift
This opportunity is not designed for new graduates
. Candidates should have the experience and clinical judgment necessary to independently manage patient flow, procedures, diagnostics, and appropriate escalation or transfer.
