General

Description

This Summer Student position will provide support in the Customer Service Branch of the Community Services Department. The student will assist with various administrative and customer service activities in the assigned area from May 2026 to August 2026. This position is within the CUPE 1505 Bargaining Unit and is located in the community of Fort McMurray, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s urban centre.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the Customer Service Team and assist with receiving and processing payment for a variety of municipal services including but not limited to utilities, property taxes, permits, collections, and licences.
  • Adhere to cash handling procedures and balance cash float daily.
  • Implement, create, and maintain documents such as invoices, files, expenses, notifications, spreadsheets, statistical reports, presentations, and other related documentation.
  • Provide reception and customer service duties, including responding to enquiries from a variety of platforms in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Collect, compile and assemble reports and statistical information for distribution internally and externally.
  • Accurately process information into computerized systems.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Proven ability to take accurate notes and minutes.
  • Ability to work independently and accomplish multiple tasks with deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to changing practices and work demands.
  • Must have proven interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in various computer programs (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Education And Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Successful completion of one (1) year of post-secondary education is required.
  • Candidates must be returning to full-time post-secondary studies for the Fall 2026 semester to be eligible for this position.
  • Preference will be given to students enrolled in post-secondary Office or Business Administration programs.
Required Documents
  • Proof of full-time post-secondary enrollment for the Winter 2026 and Fall 2026 semesters.
  • A copy of a High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
