Document Controller

Pay Rate: $28.00 to $33.00/hour, depending on experience

Raise is currently hiring a Document Controller on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a globally competitive integrated energy company that extracts, produces and provides energy from a mix of sources, ranging from oil sands to renewable fuels.

Note:

The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

The Document Controller in this role will support routine document control work processes at our clients Baseplant site. In this role, you will support enterprise Asset Information Management (AIM) strategy by governing asset data, engineering records, and document control systems across the full asset lifecycle. You will ensure data quality, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness while driving EDMS processes, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Asset Information Governance:
    Maintain and govern asset data, engineering records, and document control systems across all phases of the asset lifecycle.
  • EDMS Process Management:
    Administer Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) workflows, ensuring seamless check-in/check-out, revision control, distribution, and archiving of technical documents.
  • Data Quality & Compliance:
    Review incoming documentation for completeness, formatting, and compliance with standards, ensuring high data quality and audit readiness.
  • Project & Operational Support:
    Support active site projects and operations by facilitating rapid retrieval of accurate engineering drawings, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Reporting & Continuous Improvement:
    Drive routine reporting metrics, track documentation turnaround times, and identify opportunities to streamline document control workflows.
  • Stakeholder Training & Adoption:
    Enable effective stakeholder adoption by providing guidance, support, and training on document control governance and platform usage.
Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of dedicated professional experience working within a document control function, preferably within an industrial, oil & gas, or engineering environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in standard computer applications, including the full Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience managing document control platforms/EDMS with the proven ability to quickly learn, navigate, and adapt to enterprise-level software tools.
  • Must be permanently based in Fort McMurray, AB (local candidate; non-commuting).
  • Core Skills & Competencies
  • Meticulous eye for document accuracy, metadata tagging, and version control integrity.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, and site contractors.
  • Ability to manage high volumes of documentation, prioritize urgent requests, and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced operational setting.
  • Proactive approach to identifying document bottlenecks and troubleshooting system or workflow issues.
  • Education and Certifications
  • Minimum high school diploma (post-secondary diploma or certificate is considered an asset but is not mandatory).
