Position Scope

The Field Operations Supervisor is responsible for deploying, coordinating and supervising embedded operational employees supporting client safety and production activities. The Field Operations Supervisor will manage employees who operate heavy equipment integrated with client equipment and labour resources. The Field Operations Supervisor acts as an important and collaborative point of contact on their team for several stakeholders including NASI crews, client supervision, asset/maintenance management representatives, and NASI management.

  • Shift: 14 x 7 (7 days/7 nights/7 off)- 12 hours
  • Accommodations: LOA provided or Camp if not local
  • Transportation: Transportation to and from site in Fort McMurray.

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing

  • Coordinate and manage daily workforce deployment, scheduling, and resource planning for NASI personnel.
  • Provide effective leadership, support and direct supervision to embedded operators throughout each shift, ensuring daily requirements for health and safety and operational goals are achieved.
  • Act as liaison between NASI employees, asset management personnel, and client site supervision to deliver on the daily work plans.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all site safety procedures, standards and policies. Ensure hazard assessment activities like Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs) are completed prior to work activities.
  • As required, conduct safety meetings and other leading activities, support hazard reporting, and encourage near‑miss reports from NASI personnel. Work in conjunction with client site leadership to align on health and safety activities, including crossover communications, work permitting, and pre‑job lineups.
  • Provide support with incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Work with client supervision and health and safety personnel to align on improvement objectives following incidents and investigations.
  • Work to maximize equipment utilization for clients by supporting the coordination of equipment up and down events and activities with NASI embedded operators and maintenance leadership and trades personnel.
  • Monitor crew productivity, attendance and timesheet tracking, behaviour and overall workforce performance.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to employees.
Qualifications

What Makes You the ONE

  • Minimum of 7 years experience supervising crews in mining, construction, or industrial operations.
  • Experience leading teams in safety‑sensitive environments.
  • Experience coordinating workforce scheduling and operational requirements.
  • Post‑secondary education with leadership experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Leadership courses, certificates etc. along with experience leading operations or maintenance teams in oilsands work environments is also considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • High regard for employee health and safety.
  • Ability to coordinate labour resources and manage operational priorities.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
