Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY

The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other. Kettle Coordinator II position is a short-term contract position. The incumbent is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Promote, co-ordinate and oversee kettle locations in Fort Mc Murray
  • Responsible for arranging the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations.
  • Coordinate the schedule for kettle volunteers and respond to emergency absences, etc.
  • Make rounds at kettle locations to ensure kettle is staffed as per policy.
  • Fill in as necessary at kettles to cover breaks or late arrivals, etc.
  • Ensure that kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature, giveaways, etc.
  • Counting kettle income daily.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, orientation and performance management of kettle workers/volunteers.
  • Work alongside kettle workers/volunteers.
  • Contact churches, schools, businesses and other organizations to fill volunteer spots on kettles.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with volunteers and businesses hosting kettle locations.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer’s information.
  • Prepare and send out appropriate Thank You letters to groups and volunteer hours for students.
  • Post campaign prepare an overall report on the campaign
  • Retrieve and store all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations post campaign.
  • Maintain accurate statistical data using the Kettle System.
  • Perform other position related duties as required.

  • Collect donations and ensure donations are always kept secure.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work environment is typically in malls/stores
  • Some standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather - Winter driving within city
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.
  • Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset
  • One year of related experience or working in customer service
  • Money handling experience is an asset
  • Related experience is an asset
Skills and Capabilities
  • Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs)
