Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Overview
Ledcor is hiring Maintenance Forepersons for upcoming major construction projects across Canada. We are seeking skilled tradespersons who are passionate about equipment reliability, safety, and quality workmanship.
Essential Responsibilities- Provide daily leadership, direction, and support to Heavy Duty Mechanics and Fuel & Lube Technicians
- Forecast, coordinate, and oversee preventative maintenance requirements, including managing unplanned and emergency repairs
- Schedule, track, and ensure completion of required equipment inspections in accordance with regulatory requirements and Ledcor standards
- Assist in diagnosing faults and malfunctions; support the repair or replacement of defective parts, components, and systems as required
- Collaborate with maintenance supervision and project construction teams to ensure alignment on priorities, schedules, and operational requirements
- Ensure all maintenance activities are performed safely and in full compliance with company policies, site procedures, and safety regulations
- Interpret work orders, technical manuals, and schematics; ensure accurate and timely completion of service reports and maintenance documentation
- Coordinate and manage the procurement of heavy equipment parts, tools, and consumables to support efficient operations and minimize downtime
- Maintain and update maintenance schedules, tracking systems, and documentation to ensure accurate record‑keeping and effective planning
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role within a similar environment
- Red Seal Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic / Technician certification required
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance, including parts and servicing for Caterpillar, John Deere, and Komatsu equipment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while effectively leading and supporting a team
- Proven commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and site procedures
- Successful completion of pre‑employment drug and alcohol testing
- Valid Class 5 (or higher) Driver’s License with a clean 3‑year driver’s abstract
- CSTS‑2020 Fundamentals
- Travel allowances provided from across Canada
- Living out allowance or camp available for eligible candidates
- 14 days on / 7 days off rotation; 10–12‑hour workdays
- Extended health benefits provided by CLAC
- Weekly payment of wages
