Role Summary
NACG is looking for an experienced Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic (Off‑Road) with a Service Truck to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. This role is part of our 14×14 shift schedule on a remote site, offering competitive wages and extensive benefits.

Schedule:
14 days on / 14 days off, 12‑hour days (paid for 11.5 hours), including night shifts.
Transportation:
Busing from Fort McMurray to the site before and after shifts.
Accommodations:
Not provided.
- Vacation and statutory holiday pay allocated each paycheck.
- Up to 61 hours of overtime per 14‑day rotation.

- PPE provided (bring CSA‑certified steel‑toed boots).

- Complete repairs on CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi equipment of all sizes.
- Work closely with peers in maintenance and operations.
- Perform preventative maintenance and servicing of all equipment.
- Evaluate equipment performance and inspect to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems to determine faults and extent of repair.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure work meets manufacturer specifications.
- Mobilize equipment for maintenance and repair.
- Develop work scopes and schedules for equipment to be repaired.
- Order required repair parts, complete reports, and fill out work orders.
- Teach and evaluate apprentices and mentor mechanics.
- Follow NACG codes of practice and Safe Operating Procedures.
- Other maintenance duties as assigned.
- Minimum 2 years post‑Journeyman (Journeyperson) certification on large haul trucks, dozers, graders, or excavators.
- Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Can work with minimal supervision.

- Valid Alberta Journeyperson Equipment Technician (Off‑Road) Certificate or Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Heavy‑Duty Equipment Mechanic/Technician (Off‑Road).
- Experience with Cat SIS is an asset.
- Previous experience on a safety‑sensitive work site is an asset.
- Current CVIP and Picker Inspection.
- Oxygen/acetylene cabinets meeting OH&S requirements.
- Full complement of tools for repairing Off‑Road equipment.
- $5 million liability insurance.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and recent Driver’s Abstract.
- Valid CSO or BSO (Energy Safety Canada).
- Silica Awareness (Energy Safety Canada).
- Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness (Energy Safety Canada).
- OHS Alberta Legislation Awareness (Energy Safety Canada).
- H2S Awareness (Energy Safety Canada).
- Field Ergonomics (Energy Safety Canada).
