- Successful completion of comprehensive Fitness-to-Work Assessment. This assessment is job-related, focusing on the physical demands and safety sensitive nature of the work, and is conducted in accordance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements and the Alberta Human Rights Act. The assessment will cover
- Health History Review A thorough examination of the candidate’s health background.
- Pre-Medical Evaluation Measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
- Musculoskeletal Examination A head-to-toe assessment to identify any limitations or concerns related to physical health.
- Critical Strength and Mobility Test A series of tasks assessing lifting, carrying, and positional abilities aligned with the job’s physical demands (up to 50 lbs).

- Intermediate First Aid with CPR & AED

Reporting to the General Superintendent, Equipment Maintenance, the Maintenance General Foreman provides site-level leadership of the maintenance operation, including direct supervision of Lead hands, mechanics, and support personnel. The General Foreman ensures all maintenance work is completed safely and in full accordance with plans, specifications, scheduling, client direction, and good maintenance practices. Successful Maintenance General Foremen are recognized not only for their technical expertise, but also for their ability to lead people and prioritize work effectively and safely.
This position operates on a 5 days on / 2 days off (5/2) rotation. The General Foreman is expected to be available to work up to 12-hour shifts and provide leadership support as operational requirements dictate. The General Foreman is expected to work outside in all weather conditions, demonstrate safe operation of equipment, and be able to read, comprehend, and comply with site-specific safety rules, maintenance instructions, training manuals, warning tags, traffic signs, and procedure manuals.
The General Foreman will be able to identify potential hazards on site and implement the necessary precautionary measures to prevent incidents.

- Participate in safety audits, equipment inspections, incident investigations, and personnel matters to provide technical input and sound judgment.
- Ensure the corporate values are understood, embraced, and implemented throughout the department, and personally demonstrate them in daily interactions and relationships.
- Establish and model a culture of making decisions based on achieving and enhancing project profitability, meeting schedules, maintaining customer satisfaction, and increasing field productivity and safety, in consideration of constraints and resources.
- Supervise, motivate, and develop maintenance personnel; mentor and train foremen, mechanics, and apprentices to build crew depth and capability.
- Build and maintain the crew schedule, including rotations, shift coverage (days/nights), vacation planning, and fatigue-management compliance, ensuring adequate coverage for planned and unplanned work.
- Participate in hiring and workforce planning identify staffing needs, take part in recruitment and interviews, onboard new personnel, and manage performance, including progressive discipline where required.
- Coordinate and supervise repair schedules and ongoing preventive maintenance on assigned jobsites; ensure PM compliance and that all work is documented completely and accurately in the maintenance system (work orders, inspections, component history).
