Position: INTERDISCIPLINARY (CYBER) with Security Clearance
Duties
* Develops and presents strategic recommendations to leadership for enhancing technical communication systems integration within Defense Cyber Operations (DCO).
* Leads capability analysis/assessments of joint operational capabilities (i.e., processes and tools) and develops a requirement document that discusses findings, issues, capability requirements and gaps.
* Plans, organizes, and executes the study and review of a variety of complex, technical communications problems, issues, and vulnerabilities across all three layers of Cyberspace Operations (Physical, Logical, and Persona).
* Leverages professional methods and work efforts to conduct current interoperability research and technology evaluation and investigates areas that may pose potential opportunities for enhancement or identify possible vulnerabilities.
* Establishes and maintains appropriate working relationships with Federal entities, industry, and the private sector via participations in Federal work groups and governance bodies, scientific and academic working groups. Requirements Conditions of employment

* This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
* In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months.
* This is a drug testing position. Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements:
For the GG-0854 Computer Engineer or GG-0855 Electronics Engineer:

A. Degree:
Professional Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships);

(c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR

B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. Qualifying

Experience:

To qualify at the GG-14, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as:
Experience in applying professional engineering or computer standards and methods resolving complex cybersecurity problems, as well as evaluating and recommending improvements. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Education There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-14 grade level.
