The Cyber System Engineer Architect is a customer‑facing role leading the design, integration, and management of satellite communication systems for Lockheed Martin’s External Referral Program.
Responsibilities- System Design and Architecture: Develop and define overall system architecture for satellite communications, including payloads, ground stations, and user terminals; gather, analyze, and document system requirements; create detailed design specifications and architectural models.
- System Integration and Testing: Develop and oversee integration strategy; plan and execute integration and testing activities; document, track, and resolve issues during testing.
- Software Development and Management: Oversee development of real‑time and embedded software components; conduct trade‑off studies for reuse of existing components; manage software development processes and milestones.
- Project Management: Develop and manage project plans, define milestones, deliverables, and schedules; identify risks and develop mitigation strategies; monitor and control project resources.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Communicate effectively with clients, government agencies, and vendors; facilitate discussions and negotiations to resolve conflicts.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 20+ years of professional experience, OR Master’s degree with 18+ years, OR high school diploma with 24+ years.
- Must possess the requisite security clearance and polygraphs.
- Must have capabilities defined by the GG Statement of Work (Appendix B) for SE6 level: lead systems engineering activities; conduct analyses of alternatives; establish engineering standards; supervise contractor engineers; develop innovative approaches; brief stakeholders; serve as subject‑matter expert for high‑priority projects.
- Proficiency in designing and defining complex systems, including satellite communications.
- Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements, performance, reliability, and security.
- Experience integrating hardware, software, and network components.
- In‑depth understanding of satellite communication technologies, orbits, transponders, modulation schemes, and link budgets.
- Familiarity with protocols such as DVB‑S2, SCPC, and ground‑station interfaces.
- Lead programming tasks using C/C++, Python, MATLAB.
- Design and implement scalable, maintainable software architectures for satellite systems; experience with real‑time and embedded software.
- Experience using simulation tools for modeling and optimization.
- Knowledge of satellite hardware, antennas, and ground‑station equipment.
- Experience with embedded systems programming, RTOS, and low‑level hardware interfacing.
- Project planning and management skills, defining milestones and delivering on schedule.
- Ability to lead and coordinate cross‑functional teams.
TS/SCI with Polygraph (SP).
